Background

Heirs Holdings is the biggest insurance company in West Africa, with portfolios ranging from insurance-backed savings plans to life insurance security for individuals, families, children's education, debtors, creditors, entrepreneurs, and employees.

Heirs Life Assurance is a subsidiary of Heirs Holdings, a pan-African investment group with presence in 24 countries across 4 continents.

Goals and Objectives

The product focus is to provide:

  • Access to insurance products
  • A simple and seamless user experience
  • Other value-added services

Design Process

Based on the project and assessment scope, I decided to implement the User Centered Design process for this assessment.

Why UCD? User centered design fine-tunes the details through iteration after it is in the users’ hands.

Research and Analysis

During user interviews and surveys, we discovered that about 90% of the feedback from users focused on the app being too disorganized, uninteresting to look at and lacking beauty. This led us to narrow our design objectives to improving the overall look and feel of the app and keeping the interface as simple as possible.

User Flows

Before doing the high-fidelity designs, I had sessions with the stakeholders and the product team, and came up with user flows for each functionality and wireframes, which helped during the ideation process to refine our ideas before going into high-fidelity designs.

Solutions & Designs

Based on the user feedback, which highlighted concerns about the app feeling disorganized and visually unappealing, I focused our design objectives on improving the overall aesthetics and simplifying the interface. I streamlined the layout to reduce visual noise, using a clean and minimal design to create a more engaging and user-friendly experience.

Outcome

By addressing user pain points such as complex interfaces and slow speeds, the app achieved a seamless onboarding process and high usability, leading to increased adoption and positive user feedback.

Features such as one-click connection and auto-server selection simplified the user journey, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all users.
